Career Plan
To be successful I have created a direct career plan to ensure the best plausible outcome for my career. I strive to make a successful business for little kids who were once like me and here is how I plan on doing so.
Be Self Aware
What actions can you take to really understand your interests, values, skills, personality and strengths?
To fully dive into who I am as a person, I believe that daily or weekly self reflections are crucial. Having the ability to ask myself in situations "will this benefit myself and my future?" and being able to make effective decisions based off the answer. Using online platforms such as the Myer Briggs Type Indicator, Griffith's Career Planning resources and employability audits all assist in furthering understanding my personality and discovering my strengths and weaknesses as an individual. After analysing my personal attributes, I can undertake online career quizzes such as CareerQuest which provides external insight into an array of careers that best suit my personal skills. The information provided from this quiz enlightens me on possible career options and steps I can put in place to make these achievable. Also, seeking help from Griffith's mentors or professionals already working in the field increases my knowledge of what strengths are needed to succeed and do well within a job. Utilising all of the above methods of increasing awareness will aid in solidifying my future career.

Explore my options
What do you need to research to be clear about your options? What could you do to learn more about career options in your areas of interest?
Conducting comprehensive research is crucial to gain a deeper understanding of career opportunities in the business ownership industry. Since studying a dual degree, I have flexibility within my field of work. However with this being said I have pinpointed my area of interest, and found that dance always will be my business aspiration. I must delve into the industry trends, market demand, and competition within that sector to understand how to create a highly competitive business to earn success. Networking with industry professionals and attending relevant events can also provide valuable insights and connections to further your knowledge and career prospects. Using social media platforms to reach my target audience and advertise my business will allow me to contact my customer base and relay information quickly all while staying competitive and attracting new members. Finding the right staff members who's values align with the businesses, high levels of experience and located nearby can be difficult, especially in a competitive industry. Therefore, using online job application sites such as LinkedIn, Seek and Indeed can allow me to thoroughly interview applicants and create job adverts specifically entitled for what best suits my business. I will constantly keep my research updated and frequently check that I am following the trends of the industry to stay relevant.

Gain Experience & Insight
What actions could you take to learn more about your industry or find opportunities to develop your skills or find work experience opportunities?
To enhance my knowledge of owning a business, I must explore opportunities that develop my skills and ideally gain work experience. Attending industry events and seminars and engaging with professionals will not only expand my expertise but also making my name known to professionals. This will provide me with access to valuable resources, networking opportunities like ATOD International and Brent Street and recognition. Secondly, I can conduct thorough research using online resources such as industry publications, blogs, and forums to stay informed about the latest trends and successes. To gain work experience I can apply for internships/mentorships, informational interviews and training workshops. Participating in workshops such as AusDance QLD and Dance Business Conference will deepen my knowledge. By taking these strategic steps, I can bolster your expertise and experience in owning a business and continue to strive for long-term success.

Evidence my skills
What action can you take to find out more about the skills you might need to develop in your future career? How might you document/record these?
Fortunately for me, the job position I currently have has allowed me to gain perspective on what it is like to run a business. In my experience, running a business requires many soft skills such as organisation, time management, creativity, communication, interpersonal skills but there are also times where the harder skills are needed. Understanding and interpreting cash, having a steady financial plan, obtaining licenses and insurance and importantly ensuring the return of customers. However to further strengthen my skills, as mentioned above I can attend workshops with professionals where I can learn how to effectively manage the stresses of owning a business and how to offload tasks to staff members to ensure efficiency. To document and record the skills I acquire, LinkedIn has the function where you can add skills to your profile and also provides suggestions so that employers or employees can see the skills I obtain. Social media can also be used to show successes of my personal journey and the journey of my business. This provides a visual and striking representation aimed to a target audience (Generation Z).

Develop Networks
List three things you could do to start building your professional network.
To start building my professional networks I can:
-
Be active on platforms such as LinkedIn, Seek, Indeed
Having a filled and updated profile increases attractiveness to employers and increases my chances of being successful. On LinkedIn I will use their functions by following organisations within the industry to connect with other like minded professionals. Whilst completing my studies at Griffith, I endeavour to create relationships with people who share similar ideologies by engaging in group-work and workshops. Following people with the same aspiration and passion will create a stronger spark for my career and provide a support system.
-
Attend and participate professional level workshops/seminars and social events
Engaging with professionals on a frequent basis will allow for my research to stay updated and relevant. I will be able to grow my business and create networks with the more workshops/seminars and social events I attend.
-
Gain work experience before opening a business
I plan on expanding my knowledge by applying to work at higher level companies to deepen my grasp of running a business. The more experience gained means I can learn different solutions and techniques from different companies so that when I create my own business, these techniques can be implemented and I have more experience to manage a business successfully.
